APIs CAN Advocacy Day on Beacon Hill
On Thursday, May 1, APIs CAN hosted its first Advocacy Day at the Massachusetts State House in partnership with the Asian American Pacific Islander Commission (AAPIC), and timed to coincide with the beginning of May’s National AAPI Heritage Month. We had speakers from the Massachusetts House AAPI Caucus, the AAPI Commission, and other state leaders. During the first half of the advocacy day, participants heard from our speaker bureau graduates, state law makers, AAPI leaders, and recently announced 2025/26 Advocacy Agenda. After the speaking program attendees had the opportunity to meet with their representatives to discuss critical issues impacting working class, AAPI communities here in MA, including immigration justice, language access, education, housing, data equity, and more.
Apply for the APIs CAN Speakers Bureau Program!
APIs CAN will be launching our first ever Speakers Bureau program this Spring 2025. Please consider applying or sharing this with your networks. The deadline to apply is February 28, 2025.
This program will provide coalition organization staff members and community leaders the opportunity to be trained formally as public speakers, advocates, and policy experts. The training curriculum will focus on supporting working class, AAPI, and immigrant leaders with media training, message development, and storytelling skills building to incorporate community voice in the launch of the coalition’s policy agenda.
Through the program, participants will learn to engage effectively with mainstream media sources and include their lived experiences in public narratives around AAPI safety and racial wealth equity as evidenced by an increase in the number of speaking engagements and earned media placements secured for working class AAPI community members by APIs CAN and its coalition members.

Action to Defend Our Communities from Deportation and Criminalization!
Friday December 13, 2024
Rally at 3:30p
JFK Federal Building
We we are coming together for an important action to unify our movement, mobilize our communities, and demand protection for refugees and immigrants at all levels of government. We need you there!
In the wake of Trump’s election, we’re facing a critical moment where deportation and criminalization policies will ramp up, putting our community at risk. Though we need to prepare for Trump’s term, there is so much that current political leaders can be doing. This is our moment to push for policies that go beyond fear and punishment and offer real, tangible support for immigrants and refugees. This action is a direct call to MA Governor Healey and President Biden before January – we need their action NOW!
